Conditions for a Family Visa (Spouse/Children) in Dubai

A person holding a residence visa in the United Arab Emirates can sponsor family members. The duration of their visas will be equal to that of the sponsor’s visa. The family members who can be sponsored include:
-Spouse;
-Wife/Wives;
-Daughter (no age limit);
-Son (up to 21 years old);
– Parent.

For more information on how to sponsor your family in the UAE, read our article: Everything You Need to Know About Sponsoring Your Family in the UAE.

Timeframes for a Family Visa (Spouse/Children) in Dubai

Once you have obtained your residence visa, rented/purchased a property in Dubai, and prepared the necessary documents for certification, we can proceed with the visa applications for your spouse and children. There are two options for the sponsored person:
– Option 1: If they are present in Dubai for 3 weeks (from Monday morning to Thursday evening two weeks later), they can obtain their visa during this time.
– Option 2: Alternatively, we can submit their application to the Immigration Services 3 weeks BEFORE their arrival. In this case, they will only need to be present in Dubai for 6 working days (from Wednesday morning to Wednesday evening of the following week).

Regarding the Emirates ID (identity card in credit card format), it is now required to schedule an appointment with the authorities to undergo fingerprinting. Currently, the wait time for an appointment is 3 weeks. To schedule this appointment, you must be present in Dubai and have already undergone the medical examination. A maximum of 2 hours is required to complete the fingerprinting process (we will accompany you, of course). The Emirates ID will then be received at our post box, at least 7 working days after your fingerprinting appointment. Your presence is not required to receive the Emirates ID; we will keep it for you if you are not present.

Important points to note:
– The person sponsoring the family must be physically present in the UAE when the initial application (entry permit) is submitted.
– Children under 15 years old do not need to undergo a medical examination for the visa or fingerprinting for the Emirates ID.
