  • How to get a license and open a Cloud Kitchen in Dubai?

The procedure to start a cloud kitchen in Dubai requires obtaining the appropriate licenses. Our team will take care of all the paperwork for you and connect you with a network of cloud kitchens in Dubai.

Initial conditions

The first step in the process is to obtain the licences that will allow you to start your business.

But first, what is a Cloud Kitchen?

Cloud Kitchen is the name given to “ghost” kitchens or “virtual restaurants” that allow orders to be prepared from kitchens without the need for a physical restaurant to accommodate customers.

This type of restaurant is exclusively for home delivery. It is a concept that has developed a lot in recent years and has become more pronounced during the Covid-19 pandemic.

1. Find your Cloud Kitchen

In Dubai, there are many companies that offer you the opportunity to rent a shared commercial kitchen space.

These kitchens are compliant with Dubai Municipality requirements, so it will make it easier for you to obtain your license.

We work closely with a Cloud Kitchen company that has shared kitchens covering the whole of Dubai.

2. Initial approval

Our team will guide and advise you on the legal structure to choose for your future Cloud Kitchen in Dubai. You can choose between two options:

A- A company in mainland:

  • LLC: for this type of entity, liability is deemed limited: Limited Liability Company. However, a minimum capital of AED two (2) million must be deposited;
  • Sole Establishement (in the case of a single partner) or Civil Company (in the case of several partners): for this type of company, liability is unlimited. Also, you will need a Local Service Agent that our firm can assign to you.

B- A Free Zone company :

  • In the case of the Free Zone, a licence in relation to the catering trade will be sufficient.

3. Registration of your company

Firstly, you will need to obtain a Trade License from DED or the free zone. And then obtain a Food License from the Dubai Municipality.

We can assist you in the preparation of your file to obtain your licenses.

4. Final inspection

The final inspection is done by Dubai Municipality. If the kitchen you are renting meets all the criteria of Dubai Municipality then you will get the permission to start your business.

Generally, Cloud Kitchens meet all the standards imposed by Dubai Municipality and you will pass the final inspection without difficulty.

5. Congratulations, your licence has been issued!

If you are tempted by the experience of starting your Cloud Kitchen business in Dubai and need assistance, we invite you to meet us at our offices in JLT.
